Ok- I might just be looking for reasons to blog right now, but I absolutely LOVE this quote.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
We were handed this quote the other day in one of my Credential classes. I had heard it before, but having it typed out on a piece of paper was even better. Each line has so much meaning in it. This reminds us of our purpose, God’s greater plan, the truth in our beauty, our value, and the way we should be using our freedom. Fear can have such a hold on our lives- from past experiences that now paralyze us, to the unknown and uncomfortable causing us to fear the future, we have so many reasons to fear what is going on around us, the unknown, the unexpected, and even the future. Thank God there is an outlet for that fear, One who conquers all fear and gives us somewhere to look instead of fear itself.I love this quote. A lot.
